Introduction
On acceptance of appointment or election to the QUT Council, members are entrusted with the long term integrity and viability of the University. In return for this trust, members perform their duties always in the best interests of the University, in good faith and with honesty.
This Council Induction has been compiled as part of the University's commitment to assisting Council members understand the nature of their duties and responsibilities. Its importance has been escalated by the National Governance Protocols for Higher Education Providers which require induction and professional development by governing bodies.
The Council Manual serves two purposes:
- to induct members into the Council "workplace" and systems. You will be requested to complete proformas
- to record your member details,
- to disclose interests that may be of interest to or in conflict with the University, and make declarations required by QUT's insurers
- to apply for a "Blue Card" or Suitability Notice from the Commission for Children and Young People, and
- to enable access to QUT computer systems and parking; and
- to provide important information to assist new members understand the Council governance role and learn about the University.
