Information Standard 40 - Recordkeeping (IS40); and
Information Standard 41 - Managing Technology Dependent Records (IS41).
The legislation and standards require the University to:
- create and maintain full and accurate records of QUT business activities;
- dispose of records only with appropriate authorisation from the State Archivist; and
- ensure the continued accessibility, integrity and usability of records which are created or stored electronically

Under IS40, QUT was required to develop and submit to Queensland State Archives a Strategic Recordkeeping Implementation Plan (SRIP), to outline our current recordkeeping program, future needs and strategies for recordkeeping compliance.
To provide greater detail on how the goals and strategies identified in the SRIP are to be implemented an Operational Recordkeeping Implementation Plan (ORIP) has been developed. The ORIP was approved by the Registrar on 14 December 2004.
