In early January 2006, as part of the Electronic Recordkeeping Implementation Project (ERIP), all records held in the RecFind database were migrated to QUT’s new corporate system, TRIM Context. The implementation of TRIM was necessary due to the increase in the volume of electronic records generated by QUT. TRIM is an electronic document and records management system capable of managing both paper and electronic records. TRIM has the ability to capture and view electronic records in their original format (email, Word, pdf etc), manage the retention and disposal of records, secure documents, and can be used as a tool to manage workflow within organisational units.
All documents dated 2006 onwards that are held on TRIM folders can be viewed electronically via TRIM. TRIM is designed to encourage collaborative electronic folders, allowing individuals and/or organisational units with appropriate security access, to contribute to shared folders. It is therefore necessary to view TRIM folders electronically to see their complete contents rather than the hardcopy file. In some cases a hardcopy file will not exist.
